Visit Oman Signs Agreement with MasterCard

VisitOman.om’ has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mastercard at this year’s ITB Berlin.

Visit Oman’s signing of the MoU represents another milestone for tourism in the Sultanate, as it will serve to promote Oman as a travel destination to billions of Mastercard cardholders across the globe.

The collaboration will enable Visit Oman to engage with Mastercard’s world-class programs in order to further its vision to be an extensive digital travel booking gateway that connects global and regional travellers to unlimited discovery in Oman.

Powered by Mastercard’s proprietary Priceless platform, the collaboration will promote the Sultanate as a preferred tourism destination across key source markets to drive inbound tourism by creating differentiated experiences for cardholders across the globe.

The collaboration will further enable Visit Oman to plan, execute and improve its campaign reports through increasing transparency on tourism trends, anonymized traveller profiles, and economic impact through Mastercard’s Data Insights capabilities.

Shabib al Maamari, Visit Oman’s Managing Director, explained: “Our signing of this new agreement with Mastercard is an exciting development for both Visit Oman and the Omani tourism industry – as it further enhances our mission to build strong, strategic, and commercial partnerships in target markets, and with Omani suppliers, to deliver one connected booking platform that is designed to enable the unlimited Omani traveller experience.”

“Visit Oman is continually striving to work for the benefit of tourism entities in the Sultanate, including our vitally important travel and tourism SME sector. Our aim is to add value to the country and create more opportunities by connecting the entire accredited Omani travel supply chain – including airlines, hotels, experiences, transfers, tour operators, restaurants and more – to key international tourism markets,” Mr. Al Maamari added.

This latest initiative by Visit Oman also creates new tourism development opportunities and additional opportunities for local Omani tourism suppliers.

Selim Ergoz, Senior Vice President, of Government Engagement, EEMEA, Mastercard, said: “We are delighted to deepen our relationship with the Sultanate of Oman as we help fuel the next chapter in their booming travel industry. Mastercard recognises the vital role tourism plays in the well-being of communities, which is why we bring our technology, platforms, and data-driven insights to our partners to help shape and execute their tourism strategies. In line with our philosophy of powering economies and empowering people, we look forward to sharing the vibrance and excitement of Oman with the world.”
